The objective of the project was to study the operations and practices of the City of Chicago’s Bureau of Signs and Markings (CDOT), particularly in the areas of sign manufacturing, sign installation, pavement marking, and materials management. As a sub-consultant to L.S. Gallegos and Associates, Canete Medina (formerly cmQue, inc.) provided subject matter expertise in the area of operations analysis. In addition to collecting information, documenting operational practices, making site visits, and assessing the Bureau’s operations, Canete Medina also developed frameworks that were used to benchmark the Bureau’s operations relative to the operations and best practices in other similar metropolitan areas.
